The project Documenting Ukraine supports journalists, scholars, artists, public intellectuals, and archivists based in Ukraine as they work on documentation projects that establish and preserve a factual record, through reporting, gathering published source material, or collecting oral testimony; or bring meaning to events through artistic interpretation and intellectual reflection.

  • Wellcome Discovery Awards provide funding for established researchers and teams from any discipline who want to pursue bold and creative research ideas to deliver significant shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health and wellbeing. Host organisation of the lead applicant can be located in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Low- or middle-income countries (apart from India and mainland China)

  • Germany, DFG:
    • Grants for cooperations with developing countries (including Ukraine). Funding is available for personnel, scientific instrumentation and apparatus, consumables, travel, miscellaneous expenses and publications for both the partner institute in Germany and the cooperation partner/institute in the developing country. Eligible to apply are researchers/scientists from all subjects and disciplines at German research institutions who have completed their academic education (typically by having completed a doctorate).
    • Grants for Initiation of International Collaboration: Three different modules are available: “Exploratory Workshops”, “Trips Abroad” and “Guest Visits”. Researchers who have already achieved their doctorates and who are working in the German scientific system may apply. Special rules apply to members of non-university research institutions (see guidelines).

  • Germany, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Georg Forster Research Fellowship
    • Eligibility: Researchers from developing or transition countries in accordance with OECD (excluding PR China and India), with proposals relevant for the continued development of the country or region of origin.
    • Two types: (a) Postdoctoral researchers: < 4 years after PhD, (b) Experienced researchers: 4 years < PhD < 12 years
    • Duration: for (a) 6-24 months; for (b) 6-18 months, can be split in max. 3 periods over 3 years
  • EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships
    • 2 selection rounds pa
    • Duration: 2 years
    • Eligibility: < 2 years after a PhD AND at least 1 first-author paper published in English originally; International mobility; “candidates who have already started working in the host laboratory can apply only if they have been working in the host laboratory for < 6 months at the time the application is complete”
