Introducing the finalists of the 2023 UKRAINET PhD Thesis Presentation Contest

This year 17 PhD students from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain and Ukraine applied to our annual PhD Contest.

After a careful peer review the following PhD students have been invited to present their work at the Final, which will take place in Essen, Germany on Thursday, 28th of September 2023, within the framework of the Ukraine Days in North Rhine-Westphalia:

  • Oleksandra Aust from Institute for Pathology, Charité, Berlin, Germany: “Unraveling Mechanisms of Resistance to Targeted Therapies in Colorectal Cancer” (tentative title)
  • Pavlo Kuznietsov from the Taras Shevchenko National University, Ukraine: “Object research impact of water discharges from nuclear power plant (project of VVER-440,-1000) on structural changes in the ecosystem natural reservoirs in Ukraine” (tentative title)
  • Valeriia Lukashenko from the Nikhef, the Netherlands: “Precision measurements of Standard Model and search for Beyond the Standard Model signals” (tentative title)
  • Vira Porieva from the Taras Shevchenko National University, Ukraine: “The process of interaction between NGO and EU institutions in formation and implementation environmental policy: example for Ukraine” (tentative title)
  • Mariana Sliusarenko from the Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany: “Dissecting the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration Drosophila SWS/NTE neuropathy model” (tentative title)
  • Yaryna Zhdanova from the BETA Tech Center (Technological center of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia), Spain: “Vertical farms, sustainable architecture and environmental technologies” (tentative title)
