Call for applications for scholarships (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate) for refugee students and doctoral candidates from Ukraine at the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen

Within the framework of the DAAD programme “Future Ukraine” (financed by the German Federal Foreign Office) 15 scholarships are available for displaced Ukrainian Bachelor’s and Master’s students as well as for doctoral candidates (PhD students) at the Faculty of Chemistry.

This program offers the displaced Ukrainian students a perspective to continue their studies or doctorate at the at the University of Duisburg-Essen and to complete it successfully. This may also include students/doctoral candidates of related subjects, as the Faculty of Chemistry has a wide range of courses.

Bachelor and Master students: Admission to the following degree programmes is possible:

  • Water Science (B.Sc., German-language)
  • Water Science (M.Sc., English-language)
  • Teacher Training (B.Sc., German-language) and
  • Teacher Training (M.Sc., German-language)

Admission to other degree programmes (e.g. outside the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of
Duisburg-Essen or at chemistry faculties of other universities) is not possible.

Doctoral students (PhD)
Currently, doctoral candidates from chemistry, teaching (subject didactics), physics, biology
and the Earth Sciences are currently offered doctoral programmes at the faculty. The designated supervisors ensure, within the framework of a supervision agreement, that the necessary resources (workspace, laboratory space and consumables, if applicable) are available. It is intended that the doctoral topic will be worked on together with a supervisor at a Ukrainian university. Help is provided to find a supervisor at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Duisburg-Essen if you have already started a doctorate in Ukraine. Displaced persons from Ukraine who wish to pursue a doctorate will be advised accordingly with regard to the recognition of their degrees (admission to doctoral studies).
Support for a doctorate outside the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen
is not possible.
