GERMANY, Open Call: Restoring Ukrainian Forests for a Sustainable Future, apply by the 1st January or the 1st August

German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) invites proposals for bilateral cooperation between Germany and Ukraine, with a primary focus on restoring sustainable forest management and enhancing ecological security in Ukrainian forests.

Funding Aims:

  • Restore Ecosystems: Enhance soil protection, water regulation, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity preservation in Ukrainian forests.
  • Build Resilience: Strengthen forest health, adaptability to climate challenges, and resilience against environmental impacts.
  • Expand Forests: Support reconstruction and expansion of forests using resilient, climate-adapted approaches.
  • Combat Challenges: Manage forest fires in munition-contaminated areas, combat illegal logging, and improve forest resource productivity.

Funding Focus:

  • Collaborate on forestry-related scientific projects between German and Ukrainian institutions.
  • Enhance expertise and practical experiences for German and Ukrainian forestry experts.

Application Details:

  • Eligible applicants: research institutes, associations, foundations, forestry-related companies.
  • Supported activities include group training in Germany and Ukraine and specialized field trips.
  • Submission deadlines: twice a year, on the 1st January and the 1st August.
