EUA welcomes new collective member from Ukraine

On 21 June, the European University Association (EUA) Board approved the application for full collective membership by the Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine.

The Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine was established in 1993. It currently counts 98 higher education institutions as members and is the primary representative body for universities in Ukraine. EUA has 27 university members in Ukraine, 15 of whom are also members of the rectors’ conference. The Union of Rectors of Ukraine promotes the interests of its members in national policy discussions and works to strengthen both the autonomy of universities and their role in public life. Ukraine has been a full member of the Bologna Process since 2005.

EUA also set up new Ukraine task force to support the reconstruction of the Ukrainian higher education system. The decision to establish this task force was one of several taken in support of Ukraine during the Association’s Council meeting in Budapest on 27 April.
