Ukrainian Studies Research Fellowships, Shevchenko Scientific Society, USA, apply by 1 April

The Shevchenko Scientific Society invites applications for Ukrainian Studies Research Fellowships. Translation-related projects are eligible when they clearly advance scholarship in Ukrainian Studies by widening access to sources or interpretations contributing to the field’s development. Applications from doctoral students or early-career scholars are especially welcomed.

Awards

  • Number of fellowships: 4 (four)
  • Amount: $5,000 each
  • Use of funds: direct project costs tied to the proposed research
  • Due April 1, submitted to grants (at) shevchenko.org
  • Notifications sent to applicants by May 1

Eligibility

All researchers whose work focuses on Ukraine and who are based in the United States or Ukraine, meaning they hold an ongoing/permanent institutional affiliation or position in the United States or Ukraine during the fellowship period (the 2026–2027 academic year). If your primary base is expected to change in 2026–2027 (e.g., visiting appointment, fellowship, sabbatical, or temporary relocation), please state this clearly and explain how you will remain institutionally connected to the US and/or Ukraine throughout the project period.
