The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH offers an opportunity for people originally from Ukraine who would like to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine with their technical expertise. GIZ supports highly qualified “Returning Expert” to work with a local employer and help rebuild the country of origin. This includes counselling on finding a job and support for the voluntary return as well as a subsidy on the local salary.
This opportunity is offered by the Expert Fund Migration & Diaspora (FMD). FMD is commisioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Who are “Returning Experts for Ukraine’s Recovery”? Returning Experts (RE) are highly skilled individuals who have gained their expertise in Germany and wish to leverage their skills in local institutions by returning to their country of origin for an extended period.
Many people with a migration history study, live and work in Germany and continue to feel a close connection to their countries of origin. Some of them would like to return at some point – also to make a difference locally. This holds great potential for sustainable development. Through their commitment to their countries of origin, Returning Experts bring valuable expertise, knowledge, and experience to their local employers, driving innovation and offering new perspectives. In Ukraine, this expertise can significantly aid the country’s reconstruction efforts.
