The University of Liverpool welcomed the delegation from Sumy State University (SumDU) to strengthen the collaboration in areas of education and research.
Through a research programme focused on digitalisation and digital transformation, efforts were made to establish research connections and foster long-term partnerships between the two organizations. This programme has already provided support to 18 researchers from Sumy State who collaborated with research mentors at the University of Liverpool on a variety of projects. Additionally, 30 “virtual fellows” from Ukraine have actively participated in similar activities, working remotely with mentors from Liverpool. This programme has effectively facilitated knowledge exchange and collaboration between the researchers and mentors involved.
During the visit to Liverpool, representatives from Sumy State University met with colleagues from across the University including libraries, galleries and museums, the International Development team, External Relations, the Academy and Faculty.
The University of Liverpool twinned with Sumy State University with a signed memorandum of understanding (MoU from 28 June 2022) to share resources, learning and ideas.
The UK-Ukraine University Twinning scheme seeks to identify further ways that UK and Ukrainian institutions can work together to help prevent ‘brain drain’ and ensure Ukraine’s universities not only survive but emerge stronger from the war, allowing them to play a critical role in post-war reconstruction.
