The Global Noncommunicable Diseases and Injury Across the Lifespan research program aims to support innovative, collaborative biomedical or behavioral/social science research in the areas of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and injury throughout life in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Basic to clinical and translational research including implementation science approaches and interdisciplinary research on the intersection of a number of NCDs, or of HIV or other communicable diseases and noncommunicable diseases, are encouraged in addition to specific NCD or injury focused areas.
Eligibility
- Only direct applications from low- and middle-income country (LMIC) institutions will be accepted. The subcategories of LMICs are: upper-middle, lower-middle and low-income countries. Applicants are also encouraged to engage partners from any country, including the U.S., that can assist them in meeting their goals. - Research addressing multiple NCDs and their risk factors and research addressing NCDs as comorbidities for/with infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS is encouraged.
- Applications on research topics related to the brain, nervous system, mental health and substance abuse should apply to Global brain and nervous system disorders research across the lifespan.
