Thirteen students and one lecturer will attend a winter school at the University of Essen-Duisburg (UDE) from 17 to 23 November, 2025. Joint learning with German students is made possible by the DAAD programme DUHN (German-Ukrainian University Network), which the UDE was granred last summer in collaboration with four Ukrainian universities.
The students come from partner universities in Kharkiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia and Kryvyi Rih and are studying German language and literature, English language and literature, chemistry and physics at their home countries. The winter school is designed to help them advance their studies and open up new perspectives, accompanied by digital events before and after the course.
Together with their German fellow students, the guests from Ukraine will also take part in group activities to get to know each other better and in guided tours of the Ruhr area. But that’s not all: further digital block courses are planned at the Ukrainian partner universities, as well as three more summer schools by the expected end of the project in mid-2029, which will take place in Germany or Ukraine depending on the war-caused developments.
