2025 Ukraine Reporting Trip: apply by 5 January 2025

The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is launching the Women on the Ground: Reporting from Ukraine’s Unseen Frontlines program to increase and deepen coverage of critical issues surrounding the war. This opportunity is open to American, French, and German journalists representing local and regional news outlets.

As part of this program, the IWMF will lead reporting trips to Ukraine. The first reporting trip will take place from February 12-26, 2025. All reporting fellows will begin their trip in Warsaw, Poland, before traveling to the base location in Ukraine. Upon arrival, fellows will participate in a three-day Hostile Environment and First Aid Training followed by eight days of reporting. Story pitches should explore underreported issues in Ukraine, with a focus on communities impacted by the war that are important to their local communities in the United States, France or Germany.

Fellows will have the opportunity to network with other journalists, report collaboratively with their peers, and gain access to various sources and sites related to their reporting. The IWMF arranges travel and in-country logistics for all fellows and covers fellowship-related costs within the framework of the reporting trip including travel, lodging, and meals.
