Volkswagen Foundation opened Visiting research program for refugee Ukrainian scientists to enable them to continue their work at a university or research institute in Germany.
Update (31.03.2022): Dr. Georg Schütte, Generalsekretär der VolkswagenStiftung, erklärt:
“Nur 25 Tage nach dem Start liegen der Stiftung bereits 127 Anträge für 150 Stipendien vor. Angesichts der katastrophalen Lage für die Menschen in der Ukraine hat das Kuratorium einer nachträglichen Erhöhung des Budgets zugestimmt, damit wir noch mehr Geflüchteten eine Perspektive bieten können. Wir wissen, dass auch diese Summe nicht ausreichen wird, auch nur annähernd die Bedarfe abzudecken. Wir hoffen aber, dass wir mit unserer Akut-Hilfe ein Zeichen gesetzt haben und nun auch andere große Förderer aktiv werden.”
The funding offer is aimed at Ukrainian scientists who have already fled to Germany after the Russian invasion of their country or who will arrive in Germany in the coming weeks.
It offers doctoral students, postdocs and established scientists from all disciplines the opportunity to continue their work in a research group at a university or research institute in Germany for a period of 6-12 months. Applications must be submitted jointly by the university management and the host scientists in Germany.
The Foundation would encourage the university or research institute management to submit group applications for the inclusion of several fled persons in one or more working groups.
