Cooperation between the Center of the German Law, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Institute of German and International Law and Party Research, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, supported within the DAAD-Programme “Ost-West-Dialog 2017”

Project “Moot Court und Juristisches Ausbildungssystem in Deutschland“, Kyiv, 22-31 May 2017: From the 22nd till the 26th of May 2017 in Kyiv the second International Moot Court in Public and Constitutional Law took place at National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. Students from different regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv and Zaporizhia attended a one-week intensive course, including lectures on the development of democracy in Germany with a focus on the principles of democracy and popular sovereignty, elections, and basic principles of conduct and of representative democracy. In addition, students learned the methods of interpretation of law and process incidents, practiced in solving specific cases. In July 2017 students will take a written exam and those who get the best results will get an opportunity to visit Düsseldorf to participate in the practical part of the project in autumn 2017.

Workshop “Juristisches Ausbildungssystem in Deutschlandtook place from the 29th till 31 May 2017. It was focused on the methods and practical approaches to teaching law, welcomed law-teachers from universities of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia. Participants took part at various types of activities that focus, first of all, on practical learning. Ukrainian teachers had the opportunity to work on the development of concepts for one semester under the chosen scientific profile, in consultation with German colleagues and useful information for the purpose of further practical use.
