Professor Juri Grin, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, Germany (since 2001) was conferred the degree of Doctor Philosophiae honoris causa by the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Juri Grin studied chemistry at Lviv University in Ukraine, where he also gained his doctoral degree.
