Ceremonial Opening of the KIU Graduate Program in Ukrainian Studies. The ceremony will take place in the Logensaal of the European University Viadrina. Volodymyr Sheiko, Director of the Ukrainian Institute, will give a keynote speech on the importance of Ukrainian Studies for the security of Ukraine and Europe. Following the keynote, Volodymyr Sheiko, Prof. Yuliya Yurchuk (Södertörn University, Sweden), and Prof. Oksana Mikheieva (Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv, Ukraine) will discuss resilience and the role of universities and research in Ukraine’s reconstruction. Finally, the doctoral candidates will also have the opportunity to present their projects during a short poster session. After the official program, we invite you to a reception starting at approximately 8:00 PM.

Workshop of the German-Ukrainian Historical Commission (DUHK/УНІК) for Emerging Scholars: “The End of Wars. Ukraine in Historical and International Contexts”. Submission deadline for proposals: May 30, 2025. Invited are young researchers from Ukraine, Germany, and other countries who are working on topics such as the end of wars, peace negotiations, their implementation, historical memory, and current political contexts. A particular emphasis will be placed on the Ukrainian experience.
