Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine published statistics on the participation of Ukraine in the EU research funding programmes

Data offer an overview of the participation of Ukrainian organizations in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, and the previous Programme Horizon 2020. The data are presented in terms of the number of participants and successfully submitted applications, as well as a comparative analysis of funding according to the CORDIS portal.

Horizon Europe (2021-2024, as of July 29, 2024)

  • Applications: 1722 (0,42% of total No of applications)
  • Signed agreements: 180 (1,4% of total No of agreements signed)/ Total funding granted: EUR 48,03 million
  • No of participating organisations in the funded projects: 179
    • 33.3%: private sector (excluding HEIs & secondary education organisations)
    • 32,2%: HEIs and secondary education organisations
    • 17,3%: research institutes
    • 5,9%: public sector
    • 11,2%: other
  • Average success rate of Ukrainian organisations: 15,69% (the average success rate of all participating organisations: 15,51%)
  • Ukraine was ranked 7th of 19 associated countries

  • Signed agreements: 241 (0,65% of total No of agreements signed)/ Total funding granted: 48,88 million EUR
  • No of participating organisations in the funded projects: 174
    • 47,2%: private sector (excluding HEIs)

    • 17,3%: HEIs and secondary education organisations
    • 11,9%: public sector

  • Average success rate of Ukrainian organisations: 9,30% (the average success rate of all participating organisations: 6,76%)
