With this 36th issue of our Newsletter we are pleased to announce the winners of our PhD Thesis Presentation Contest, inform you about the launch of the new Horizon Europe Office in Kyiv and two more EU initiatives for Ukrainian researchers and innovators, and, as always, provide a digest of the latest news, funding opportunities and events related to Ukrainian Studies and academic cooperation with Ukraine.
 
We wish you, your families, and friends relaxing and joyful Christmas holidays, a happy and successful New Year 2024 and a better future for Ukraine and our collaboration with our Ukrainian colleagues! You might find useful some book recommendations (in English and in German).

Winners of the UKRAINET PhD Contest 2023

The 2023 UKRAINET PhD Presentation Contest took place in Essen on 28 September 2023 within the framework of the Days of Ukraine in North Rhine-Westphalia (28 September – 29 September 2023), see report here. Mariana Sliusarenko, the Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany, won the first place, Yaryna Zhdanova from the BETA Tech Center (Technological Center of the University of Vic), Central University of Catalonia, Spain won the second place, and the third place won Valeriia Lukashenko from the Nikhef (Dutch National Institute for  Subatomic Physics), the Netherlands.
